The plates are all in very good condition, no cracks, gaps or shards. They are very old, dating from the late 19th century and are, for the most part, "faiened", patinated, the enamel having over time taken yellowed shades, but this does not prevent to use them, and keur gives a crazy charm. They come from the pexonne earthenware factory, which is one of the oldest manufactures of Lorraine faience in the department of meurthe and Moselle. It is one of the many earthenware factories in northern France, close to those of badonviller, luneville, Saint-clement, niderviller, sarreguemines and longwy which exploited the clay lands of the region, and benefited from the presence of large forests, and wood in quantity for the heating of ovens. In pexonne was worked a beautiful fine earthenware. The pieces are all marked on the reverse of the stamp of the earthenware, pexonne, the ff denoting the precision fenal brothers, and "flowers", the name of the service. The patterns are burgundy red, very well supplied and very detailed, quite realistic, which offers an opulent and rich look to the plates. They're flat.
