Ceramic jug, Danish design, 1960s, made in Denmark

This ceramic jug with a lid was made in the 1960s in Denmark. A slender, elegant jug made of glazed ceramic, finished in an exceptionally decorative palette of brown and cool blue. The horizontal, ‘smoky’ colour transitions and the subtle sheen of the glaze give it a very refined character, typical of the finest examples of European functional design from the second half of the 20th century. It is a superb example of a form that combines functionality with collector’s appeal: a comfortable handle, a practical spout and a fitted lid make the jug ideal for serving drinks, but also as a decorative accent on a table, chest of drawers or in a display cabinet.
