Small old side table with brass finishes

This small rectangular table has the main structure and legs in mahogany (possibly from the 18th or 19th century) while the top is in oak. The square legs are fluted and have an egg frieze. The oak top is newer and has been stained to better match the rest of the table. The corners are adorned/reinforced with brass straps. There is a lock plate but it has no function (there is a very old mechanism inside). This 'chest' had a bottom that was partially removed. In my opinion, it used to be some sort of lockable safe. Condition: good. Glass holes in the mahogany, but these were inactive and were treated just in case. The table has been modified during its history with a new top. Numerous signs of use corresponding to age (water mark, wear on the feet and damaged frieze on one foot). Dimensions: 46 cm high, 50 cm long, 27 cm wide, 5 kg.
