Large chessboard coffee table in mahogany, Jansen style – 2nd half of the 20th century.

This large mahogany coffee table stands out for its rare character and unique elegance. The eglomisé glass top, a true work of art, combines golden scrolls and pictorial nuances in a subtle play of contrasts. A large painted chessboard on the underside also decorates this unusual table. The black squares stand out against a background of mixed tones, evoking the cosmos and its light vibrations. The corners of the top are adorned with floral patterns and starry medallions in red and blue accents, adding a touch of opulence inspired by decorative arts. Surrounded by a brass frame, this top rests on a solid structure with legs inlaid with brass fillets, connected by a stretcher that enhances the balance and presence of the whole.
