Murano Sommerso Glass Bowl or Ashtray by Flavio Poli, Italy, 1960s/70s

Stunning mid-century modern murano sommerso glass bowl by flavio poli (italy, 1960s). Made of thick blue and yellow glass. Perfectly works as an ashtray, a vide poche, a catchall or just as a display piece on any table. Extremely decorative. Quite heavy (1.4 kg). Height: 7 cm; width: 17 cm; depth: 15 cm. Very good vintage condition overall. No chips, no cracks. Light wear (scratches) consistent with age and use. "sommerso" (italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
