Very pretty footed bowl in Longwy earthenware from the 1950s. Made in France and hand-painted, it is numbered. Beautiful, very shiny enameled glaze. Cloisonné enamels and multicolored flower decoration on a blue background. The underside is enameled in a pale turquoise blue, while the rim and foot are a contrasting dark cobalt blue. The edge of the foot is pierced, so the piece can be displayed as wall decoration. In impeccable condition without any accidents, it can be used as a pocket emptier, a small fruit bowl, etc. An iconic house located in Lorraine that has been perpetuating the tradition for over 220 years, Longwy holds the exclusive right in France for cloisonné enamels on earthenware. This delicate technique consists of printing the decoration in black on the raw biscuit, then filling each cell thus surrounded with a colored enamel. This manual technique is carried out by a seasoned craftsman and it takes several years of training before acquiring perfect mastery. Height: 5 cm Diameter: 22.5 cm Diameter at the base: 9 cm.
