Vintage Opala ceiling light by Hans Wegner for Louis Poulsen

Produced by Louis Poulsen. Brilliant acrylic lampshade with aluminum element. Hans J. Wegner designed his futuristic Opala series in the 1970s for the Scandinavian Hotel in Copenhagen. (April 2, 1914-January 26, 2007), Hans Jurgen Wegner was a successful Danish furniture designer who contributed to the international popularity of mid-century Danish design. His work belongs to a modernist school with an emphasis on functionality. He's probably best known for his chairs. Later, he continued to design chairs and also worked with lighting.
