Superb armchair, or fireside chair from the most prestigious site of the Bibliothèque national de France (BnF), that of Richelieu. This seat was made to order by Serge Marcel when the entrance to the famous Labrouste room was redesigned in 1993. It still bears the label of the BnF exit inventory, on the back. All rounded and warm materials with a very interesting combination, it offers a Chesterfield-style backrest, finished with a very pretty upper crossbar with a rather dreamlike appearance. It was used for many years in the entrance of the room, and shows signs of wear on the feet, the back (rare small chips) and the seat has a very small, barely visible hole in the center (probably due to poor storage) but it remains in a fairly exceptional condition for such a seat. It is, moreover, in its strict original patina. Space-saving, full of history and an undeniable design, this is a piece of furniture like we rarely come across! H: 81 cm. W: 55 cm. D: 55 cm. Seat height 49 cm. The price is firm, thank you.
