This monumental accent lamp is based on an extremely expressive Fat Lava floor vase by Carstens Tönnieshof from the 1970s. Clearly stylistically linked to Brutalism, the piece impresses with its powerful bulbous shape and its thick, granular glaze applied in an extremely heavy bright orange. A distinctive feature is the stamped pattern, which deliberately "flows" slightly during the firing process. This effect was not an accident, but rather a consciously employed design element of the time: raw, tactile, uncompromising. The glaze has a lava-like appearance and gives the vase a strong three-dimensional depth. The ceramic is exceptionally heavy and solid – a true centrepiece of West German pottery. The lamp has been constructed to high standards and is very stable. No holes have been drilled into this collectible item. Thanks to a custom solution with a vase cap, the socket is securely attached to the vase. – The design fully respects the original ceramic. – The base is embossed with the manufacturer's mark. – Discreetly routed fabric cable directly to the socket at the back. Due to its size and weight, the lamp stands very firmly and is ideally suited as a dominant accent lamp for spacious rooms, lofts, or striking architectural interiors. A rare Fat Lava lamp, exceptionally powerful with a strong presence and collectible value – brutal, impressive.
