Material: Chrome-plated steel, Bakelite. Sir Terence Conran (1931–2020) was an influential British designer, entrepreneur, and author. In 1964, he founded the furniture store Habitat, making affordable, modern design accessible to a wide audience. He played a key role in popularizing modern interior design in Britain. Conran also designed furniture, interiors, and lighting, including a series of elegant and functional lamps for the German brand Erco. In addition to boutiques such as The Conran Shop, he launched successful restaurants and founded the Design Museum in 1989. He has written over 50 books on design and cuisine and was knighted in 2010. His work and vision have had a lasting influence on the international design world.
