Napoleon III gueridon in blackened wood and marble – 19th century
Napoleon III guéridon in blackened wood and marble – 19th century. Elegant circular guéridon from the Napoleon III period, made of blackened wood and featuring a central top in veined marble with brown, grey, and pink tones. The round top is encircled by a significant moulding in blackened wood, adorned with a delicate engraved decoration of foliage and stylised patterns. The openwork belt presents an elegant decoration of cut volutes, characteristic of decorative furniture from the second half of the 19th century. The whole rests on a turned central shaft, finished with a particularly elaborate tripod base. The three cut and sculpted legs with large scrolls give this guéridon a silhouette that is both light and very decorative. The contrast between the blackened wood and the natural shades of the marble adds a great deal of elegance to this small table, ideal as a guéridon, side table, or display table. Some signs of use, small accidents, and old woodworm holes are visible on the base, consistent with its age and shown in the photographs. Period: second half of the 19th century. Style: Napoleon III Material: blackened wood and marble. Height: 70 cm. Diameter: 53 cm. Overall good condition for its age, with wear and signs of time.
