Superb large glazed stoneware vase from the Accolay workshops in Burgundy, belonging to the famous "Gauloise" series. This piece features an imposing ovoid silhouette, with a generously rounded belly tapering to a narrow base, topped with a short neck and wide opening. Its harmonious lines and generous proportions give it a remarkable sculptural presence. Its glazing combines a bright turquoise blue with deep shades of petroleum blue and black. The decoration is rhythmically marked by numerous horizontal grooves, more or less pronounced, that follow the curves of the vase and create a particularly successful graphic effect. The shiny black interior contrasts with the matte and slightly grainy texture of the exterior. Accolay pottery was established in Burgundy in 1944, driven by four former students of Alexandre Kostanda. Their production saw significant growth in the 1950s and 1960s, distinguished by great creative freedom, original shapes, and bold explorations of glazes. The "Gauloise" series is characterized by its glazes in shades of turquoise blue and black, accompanied by striated decorations that emphasize the volumes and highlight the turning work. It is among the emblematic productions of the Accolay workshops from the second half of the 20th century. A beautiful collectible piece, particularly decorative due to its imposing size, generous shape, and the intensity of its glaze. Dimensions: Height: 30.5 cm. Diameter: 24 cm. Condition: very good overall condition. Presence of three micro-chips at the foot, not visible when the vase is placed.
