Writing kit (boxes), lacquer, Napoleon III period

Beautiful office set from the napoleon III period, consisting of a mailbox, a box for pens and pencils and a matchbox, all on a tray. The ensemble is decorated in chinese lacquer, on the mailbox is represented a scene of acrobats and musician on a landscape background. On the brush box and on the set are depicted children playing. Finally on the matchbox a bird lands on a flower. This type of object made in china was intended for a western clientele fond of asian objects. China. Circa 1870.
