This collection box was used to collect financial goods and valuable documents by temples, or by traders. It combines power and stripping and discreet oriental influence. The craftsman sought the balance between the salient corners and the discreet recessed molding. Edo furniture is the result of a harmonious cohabitation of materials. Thus, the warmth of wood and the sober elegance of steel greet each other in turn, in the quest for a beautiful balance. Wall thickness 2 cm. Edo period, first half of the nineteenth century - keyaki wood (zelkova serrata). Shocks, wear - probably a part of fitting on the lid, restored anciently. Old inscriptions below.
