This elegant and rare sideboard was designed by Torbjørn Afdal and manufactured by Bruksbo in Norway during the 1960s. Known as the “Hertug” model, it stands among Afdal's most refined and sought-after creations. The cabinet is crafted from richly grained Rio rosewood, with beautifully book-matched veneer across the front. It remains on a sculpturally profiled solid wood base, giving the piece a light and floating appearance — a hallmark of Scandinavian modernism. The interior offers excellent storage: one section features adjustable shelves, while the right-hand side includes a column of six flat drawers made of contrasting light wood, most likely birch. The four doors open with original brass key-shaped handles, and the piece comes with its full original set of functional keys — a rare and valuable detail. All surfaces have been professionally cleaned and oiled, preserving the warmth of the wood and its original patina. The sideboard is in excellent vintage condition, with only minimal signs of use consistent with age. A highly collectible piece and a true icon of Norwegian mid-century design — perfect for both contemporary and vintage-inspired interiors.
