Carpet tabriz-marand 50 raj circa 1970, signed by the weaver "iradji" Marand is located in northwestern iran in the province of azerbaijan. Marand carpets are so similar to tabriz carpets that today they are marketed as tabriz carpets.marand is one of the large and important cities of east azerbaijan province and the center of the city of marand. This city is located 65 km northwest of tabriz. The wool used in the manufacture of these carpets is very fine and of high quality, allowing greater precision in details. Even the simplest carpets have a knotting density of about 400, 000 knots per square meter, which is much more than most other persian carpets. The precision of the details of these carpets is impressive. The quality of tarbiz-marand carpets has a very precise name, "raj", which corresponds to the number of knots in an area of 7 cm. The higher the raj, the higher the quality and knotting density of the carpet. Woven in the 70s, this carpet with a caucasian carpet design called "shirvan" features unique colors set with geometric patterns resembling jewelry. On a cream field with emerald green shades and sky blue. An attractive design with a warm and amazing border. Dimensions: 385x 290 cm. Condition: good condition overall, 2 slight whiter traces in the center of the carpet (visible in the photos), beige borders slightly yellowed over time.
