Dutch modernist buffet

Dutch modernist sideboard designed by Theo Arts for Goed Wonen in 1959. Manufactured by the Arts De Kern furniture workshop in Rotterdam. This model number 521 is made of pine wood. Theo Arts collaborated with the Good Wonen foundation in the 1950s and started his small furniture workshop in Rotterdam where this small sideboard was produced. Clean minimalist lines, a graphic combination of black and wood, use of pine wood, a simple hole for a handle, sliding doors. An iconic example of early Dutch modernism in its ultimate form. The simple round legs, unusually high, accentuate the floating and minimalist appearance of the body. The interior includes four drawers on the left and a shelf on the right. The piece is in good original condition (minimal signs of age and use) and bears a manufacturer's stamp on the bottom.
