Niels Otto Laursen Møller was a Danish cabinetmaker, furniture designer, and entrepreneur. Møller initially trained as a cabinetmaker before continuing his studies at the Aarhus School of Design. In 1944, he founded the company J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik A/S, which is still run today by his two sons at the same historic location. For this company, the designer created many iconic pieces, now considered prime examples of mid-20th century Danish design (Mid-Century). Møller's work is characterised by supreme craftsmanship combined with elegant Scandinavian aesthetics. Chair No. 71 is an early creation dating from 1951; it is now among his most renowned models.
