Valentine portable typewriter. iconic 60 's object. The Valentine portable typewriter consists of two separate parts: the machine itself equipped with an integrated handle and a carrying Briefcase, the opening of which allows the handle to protrude evenly. Designed by Ettore Sottsass and Perry King for Italian manufacturer Olivetti, the Valentine, is presented in all museums. Sottsass says: "when I was young, we only heard of functionalism... That is not enough. The design can also be sensual and exciting. Faithful to his convictions, he then conceived the Valentine with a focus on portability by imagining a dress full of gaiety inspired by pop art – far removed from the morose colors usually associated with the world of Office Automation.
