Brutalist wrought iron round coffee table with bronze-coloured top – 1970s
This striking round coffee table in Brutalist / Spanish Revival style was made in Europe around the 1970s. The sculptural base of hand-forged black iron consists of six broad, gracefully flaring legs held together at the centre by a decorative riveted ring. The top, approximately 4 cm thick, has a wooden core encased in cast polyester with a rich bronze-coloured metallic finish. The surface is deeply engraved with a geometric sunburst pattern radiating from the centre – almost a relief. Unsigned, but clearly handcrafted. A powerful centrepiece in a Brutalist, seventies or eclectic interior, where craftsmanship and graphic form come together. Condition: good, with light signs of use.
