Magnificent oil painting on canvas by the russian painter sergei smetanin depicting a superb still life with marble vase. Sergei smetanin was born in 1952. He studied at the state academinc art school in moscow from 1976 to 1981. He graduated as a graphic designer there. Since 1980 he has exhibited in russia and around the world. He is particularly fond of still lifes. These works are mainly held by private collectors in russia, france, germany, belgium, austria, norway, china and japan. Most of these works were painted on the basis of commission. It represents a beautiful blue ceramic vase decorated with bronze and resting on the marble of an antique piece of furniture. To the left of his vase, the painter represented another vase in white opaline and golden outline. It still features many other details such as a pretty butterfly in flight, a fruit basket in which figs, peaches, plums or currants are arranged. This charming "still life" is framed in a pretty gilded and carved wooden frame. Piece signed and annotated on the reverse. It is dated 1990. Magnificent realization in perfect condition.
