Painting portrait of a Dandy with oil on wood

The paint is in good condition. It is an oil portrait of a young man who wears a fine and lavallière mustache. The choice of colors is daring, and evokes the range used by fauvist painters. Purple shadows, lemon yellow lights, profusion of assertive hues. The treatment with large keys very removed shows a nice ease of the author, and a good mastery of the technique, but the painting is not signed. The composition is beautiful, off-center, with the head wedged in the left corner of the panel, and going up to the edge. The panel is light plywood, 5 mm thick. The back is also painted, it represents a bouquet of red anemones in a vase. It was common for painters to paint both sides of a medium in the workshops, and then choose the best of both! The painting dates back to the 1950s.
