Swedish swivel armchair in velvet, 1970s

Rust-colored velvet, chromed tubular metal frame, five-star swivel base and adjustable backrest. Swedish production, 1970s. The armchair combines the enveloping character of its rust-colored velvet upholstery with a chromed tubular metal frame, left exposed as an integral part of the design. The high backrest and generously proportioned seat feature soft button tufting, while at the rear the frame clearly reveals the chair’s construction and the system supporting the upholstery. The five-star swivel base and adjustable backrest complete a typology representative of Scandinavian design of the 1970s, characterized by the interplay of comfort, highly tactile materials and deliberately exposed metal structures.
