Magnificent antique teapot / jug in Creil and Montereau ironstone, Khiva model, with a beautiful blue printed decoration. A particularly decorative model featuring a superb scene depicting birds, a balustrade, and a flower vase, accompanied by a rich floral frieze. The shape is also very elegant with its long angular spout, geometric handle, and matching lid. The Khiva model is now quite rare, especially in tea or coffee service pieces, which are much harder to find than plates. Marked KHIVA – Registered – Ironstone under the base. A very beautiful collectible piece from Creil and Montereau, particularly interesting for its Khiva decoration and uncommon shape. In antique condition with a lovely patina and natural crazing of the glaze. Notable: the lid handle has been re-glued; there is a crack running through the base; traces, discolouration, and interior wear related to age. The teapot has been tested with water and does not currently leak, but given its age and the crack, I recommend it more as a collectible or decorative piece rather than for daily use. Total height with lid: 22 cm. Diameter of the body at its widest: 13 cm. Weight: approximately 900 g.
