Set of two round dishes on heels, designed during the "meiji" era, which can be translated as "enlightened government". This historical period of japan will be marked by emperor mutsuhito and the shift of his country from a feudal system to a policy of industrialization and modernization. These dishes are made of bronze and cloisonné enamels, a goldsmithing technique originally applied in jewelry design. The polychrome mirrored decorations represent pairs of cranes in a marshy setting, where water lilies and multicolored flowers coexist on a blue background. The scenes are bordered by friezes with ornamental motifs. The underside of these dishes is embellished with successions of golden fillets in windings. Dishes with precise decorations and cheerful colors that will naturally attract attention. ******** Period: late nineteenth. Very good condition. No splinters or cracks. Size: Diameter: 30 cm. Ref: 569 t.
