Designed in 1936 by Hungarian architect and designer Marcel Breuer for the London-based firm Isokon, the BT3 table was originally intended for the Isokon building's restaurant, Isobar. Made from molded birch plywood and walnut veneer for the legs, it is distinguished by its remarkable lightness, structural strength, and intelligent assembly. The rectangular top has two long sides curved at right angles, creating both optimal rigidity and a pleasantly rounded edge. The T-shaped base is formed by two curved elements assembled at an angle, forming a visible reinforcing edge along its entire height. This design, entirely intended for mass production, reflects Breuer's modernist approach to exploring laminated wood, a technique he discovered in London thanks to Isokon. Edition: Isokon circa 1936. The table is unsigned but well documented.
