Mahogany veneered scroll secretary - Louis XVI style - 20th century.

This magnificent rolling secretary is unique, not in its genre but in its trompe l'oeil leather inserts, like exotic wood veneer. This piece of furniture, well known to lovers of period furniture, generally features varnished painted scenes, which rarely survive the test of time. Here they were removed and replaced by a journeyman craftsman to whom we entrusted it. The upper shelf is also in patinated leather with an aged effect. The piece of furniture has a frieze of bronze garlands at mid-height, the grooves are covered in brass and the legs are decorated with rings and sabots. The roll reveals inside: a sliding writing tray covered in black leather and three small drawers. These small defects: one of the brass sheaths is missing, the inside of the groove has been painted in gold; the two rear legs are slightly warped; wear of the interior leather carpet. H96xw75xd46cm.
