The vase with engraved flowers. At the end of the 19th century, in the city of Nancy, a passionate artist worked with glass like no other: Émile Gallé. Around 1895–1904, he created an extraordinary vase. The glass was tinted with deep colours: amber, brown, and sometimes a hint of violet. On the surface, he acid-etched wildflowers, leaves, and delicate branches that seemed to sway as if in the wind. For him, nature was an infinite source of inspiration. 🌿 One day, this vase was presented at the great Exposition Universelle of 1900 in Paris. Visitors stopped in front of it, fascinated. — "It looks like the flowers are growing in the glass!" said a lady. — "It's poetry made of crystal, " replied another. The vase became a symbol of the Art Nouveau style, where art imitated the living forms of nature. More than a hundred years have passed. Today, some of these vases rest in museums like the Musée de l'École de Nancy. But when the light still passes through their coloured glass, one gets the impression of hearing the artist's voice saying: "Art must come from nature... And return to nature."
