French painter born on 8 March 1938 in Paris, died on 6 March 2013 in Montreuil. His work is linked to concrete art/geometric abstraction. Close to Mondrian's research, he explores the path of abstraction through a radical simplification of forms and frequent use of primary colours. The present lithograph: a biomorphic abstraction: A matte black background at the top reminiscent of his very dense flat areas; A tangle of white forms in negative that structures everything; In the centre, a cut-out blue bean shape, very Matisse; Four primary accents that balance: burgundy red, bright orange, lemon yellow, and ochre/brown in the background.
