Set of 2 garden chairs by Hoste Huub, 1930s

Huib Hoste was one of the greatest and first Belgian architects of modernism, along with greats like Victor Horta and Henry van de Velde. He worked with many greats, in 1933 with Le Corbusier on a project in Antwerp. These two chairs come from the only beautiful house in my area (Hasselt) that Huib Hoste built in the 1930s. He also designed the entire interior. These two chairs are only designed in an edition of 20. Original as garden chairs and only for a house project. The chairs are in perfect original condition, but some restorations were necessary. The metal tube frame in the original paint has surface rust but is still in an extremely robust and stable condition. The seat and fabric backrests are in very good condition. The wooden armrests were originally covered with a type of retractable black plastic sleeve. These were so badly or even gone, also small pieces of wood are placed professionally and after oiled completely black.
