Longchamp twisted burgundy and gold candlestick holder model 1758

This beautiful two-branched candlestick in twisted ceramic will add a very elegant touch to your interior. It has a pretty shape that combines curves and straight lines, a typical blend of the art deco style. It also has a very beautiful burgundy red color, enhanced with a golden border. This candlestick is regularly found for sale (in burgundy or green), but very often the golden border has disappeared (or is it not original?), while it is this border that gives all its charm to this piece by refining it, making it more airy and much more elegant. This candlestick comes from the longchamp factory (stamped "longchamp france" below as well as the model number 1758), a small village in burgundy whose ceramists were already producing tiles and squares for the dukes of burgundy in 1386! The longchamp factory, specializing in ceramics for fine tableware and which also offers table decoration, was founded in 1832 and still continues today despite a shutdown between 2008 and 2016. This candlestick dates from the 40s or 50s. It is in good condition, no cracks, no big chips, the original gold edging is present (be careful not to rub hard with a sponge, the edging could fade) but it has some marks that testify to its age: a small chip on the enamel on the inner edge of one of the two sockets (hardly visible and even less so when the candles are in place), another on a corner at the edge of the base (perhaps just a lack of original enamel but hard to see in any case given its location), a few areas with micro-scratches (one on the base and one on the bottom of the twisted part). This candle holder measures 16 cm in height, 20 cm in width. The sockets are squares of 4 cm on each side, the location for the candles measures approximately 2.4 cm in diameter. The base measures 11 cm by 8 cm for a thickness of approximately 3 cm.
