Rarely does a table say so much about the person who ordered it. Made to measure in 2016, this unique piece plays on the absolute contrast of matte black and glossy white — a deliberate reference to Daniel Buren's Deux Plateaux, which the herringbone parquet further emphasises, like an involuntary echo. Its dimensions are generous without being cumbersome: 200 cm in length, 100 cm in width, 73 cm in height — a true dining table for six to eight guests. But where the object becomes truly clever is in its transformation system: it folds in on itself to form just a console table (about 50 cm deep), without losing an ounce of its presence. The mechanism relies on hidden hinges from the Koblenz brand — high-precision German hardware, invisible when open, silent, and of impeccable reliability. The structure consists of alternating lacquered black and white panels, thick and rigid, with crossed "blade" legs that give a sculptural silhouette as successful from below as from above. The whole is in perfect condition, with no notable scratches, no deformation, ready to join a new interior. This is the kind of furniture you won't find in a shop. Someone wanted it, had it made, loved it. It deserves a successor who understands what they are looking at. Location: Lyon.
