The wabi coffee table top features the same lines that run through the dori cushions: the rattan canes are arranged one by one on a wooden structure to obtain a table with regular designs where the angles give way to harmonious curves. Every detail of this exceptional table is thought out, right down to its two legs firmly anchored in the ground, also covered with regular strips. Wabi furniture is a nod to the seventies, to a layout technique that artisans are revisiting today, exclusively for the cfoc. Each piece of wabi furniture is entirely handmade, it is unique. It is a breath of nature whose energy carries you elsewhere. A rattan coffee table, worked in a workshop in yogyakarta, in the heart of the island of java. Rattan is a wild and thorny vine that can measure more than two hundred meters long. In the region, it is particularly resistant and dense. Brought back to the village, the rattan is sorted, washed, dried and then sanded to become smooth. It is steam-bent and carefully arranged on a wooden structure to obtain the desired pattern which will then be varnished. A linear pattern. A nod to the seventies, to a layout technique that artisans are revisiting today.
