A handsome, simple magazine rack (also called a newspaper rack or magazine stand) in oak. Two slatted sides form a scissor construction pivoting on a metal pin, with a narrow base of laminated wood (plywood) between them. Opened, the rack holds magazines, newspapers or large books upright; folded, it is only 20 cm deep and easy to put away. The rack is not marked; the construction with plywood base and the clean shape are consistent with the mid-20th century. The warm oak, the rhythmic slats and the clever folding construction turn a practical item into a beautiful object. Thanks to its open shape it looks light, and it looks good even when empty. Lovely next to an armchair or sofa, by the fireplace or in a reading corner. Suits a Scandinavian, mid-century, country or Japandi interior. Can also hold throws or serve as a print rack for posters and small frames. Condition: good, with light signs of use: small scratches and wear to the edges, mainly on the base and the ends of the top rails. No loose joints, cracks or repairs seen. Opens and folds smoothly.
