The teak is still in very good condition and has a good sustained color. The chair has some nice details, such as its tapered feet and punchy legs that form a good balance with the slightly straighter lines of the backrest. Søborg Møbelfabrik, run by the Jacobsen family from generation to generation, has focused on producing high-quality furniture that showcases the Danish design tradition. She has worked with some of Denmark's most famous mid-century furniture designers. Located on the outskirts of Copenhagen, the traditional woodworking workshop created by Jacob Jacobsen was modernized by his sons Arne (1899-1977, no relation to mid-century designer Arne Jacobsen) and Orla (1895-1980) when they took over in 1930. They collaborated with several talented cabinetmakers, architects and designers in the middle of the last century, including Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993), Mogens Lassen (1901-1987), Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) and Bernt Petersen (1937-2017). Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Søborg Møbelfabrik participated in the annual exhibitions organized by the Copenhagen Carpenters' Guild. In 1942, architect Mogens Lassen designed a solid mahogany stool in the shape of a carved semicircle for the Carpenters' Guild furniture exhibition at the Museum of Industrial Art in Copenhagen. Other notable Søborg designs include Mogensen's King of Tile Chair (1944) and Chinese Cabinet (also 1944, exhibited at the Carpenters' Guild), as well as Cabinet No. 302, Sideboard No. 309a, Dining Room No. 311 and Chairs Nos. 316 and 317 (all from the 1950s) by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. In 1976, designer Christian Hvidt (born 1946) collaborated with Søborg, creating several furniture designs for the home and office. His SM03, SM76 and SM200 wall units are among his most famous creations.
