Very beautiful French modernist chair with a sober and architectural aesthetic, in the spirit of the artisanal brutalist furniture of the 50s/60s, reminiscent of the work of Pierre Chapo and Charlotte Perriand. Structure in solid exotic wood, probably sipo, afromosia, or African mahogany, featuring a superb deep and warm reddish-brown patina. The wood is particularly dense and heavy, a sign of high-quality craftsmanship. The design is distinguished by: A slightly curved solid backrest, Subtly curved uprights, A massive base with minimalist lines, And very beautiful compact and balanced proportions. The seat in natural fibre woven with thick strands offers remarkable graphic and artisanal work. The weaving is in excellent condition and fully contributes to the sculptural character of the piece. Presence under the crossbar of an old metal plate stamped “VB G1”, probably a workshop mark or manufacturing reference. A chair with a strong decorative presence, ideal in a brutalist, wabi-sabi, or minimalist interior. Dimensions: Height: 85 cm. Width: 41 cm. Depth: 42 cm. Seat height: 45 cm. Very good vintage condition with patina and signs of wear consistent with its age. A rare and uncommon piece in the market for French modernist furniture.
