Superb vase by Maurice Pinon Heuzé (Art Deco period, circa 1930) featuring a pronounced neo-Greek/antiquing style, depicting warriors (hoplites) equipped with helmets, spears, and shields. The shape of the amphora with its two elegantly crafted handles perfectly complements the matte black background enhanced with hand-painted golden motifs. His characteristic handwritten signature "Pinon Heuzé" is integrated into the gold on the body. There are some signs of wear from time and conservation, but no visible cracks, and the gold paintings are intact. Generous size of 30 cm. The absence of a number or stamp under the base is quite normal for productions by Maurice Pinon Heuzé from this period: his handwritten signature in fine gold on the body’s decoration (clearly visible in the last photo) is sufficient for authentication. The presence of his handwritten signature in gold, perfectly integrated into the design and firing of the rest of the decoration (it is clear that it was not added afterward), confirms the provenance from his workshop in Tours.
