Roger Guérin (Bouffioulx) - Sculptural Vase in Salt Glazed Stoneware - Drip Decor - Model 606 - Belgium, circa 1940. DESCRIPTION: Superb large fire salt glazed stoneware vase, a characterful creation from the famous Belgian manufacturer Roger Guérin in Bouffioulx. This model (referenced 606) stands out for its rich, textured material. Unlike smooth pieces, this one features a raw surface reminiscent of stone or bark, typical of the artist's sculptural approach. The glazing is magnificent, with thick, nuanced drips of deep brown, black, and bluish/milky touches layered over the body of the vase. The shape is robust, cylindrical, flaring towards the neck, adorned with two small stylised side handles. The piece still has its original golden label "Guérin Bouffioulx". It is also marked in relief under the base "606" and bears the stamp "HAND MADE IN BELGIUM". It is a heavy piece (over 1 kg) and dense, showcasing the mastery of "Grand Feu". Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations. The texture irregularities are an integral part of the artisanal manufacturing technique. Features: Manufacturer: Roger Guérin. Origin: Bouffioulx, Belgium. Material: Salt Glazed Stoneware. Style: Late Art Deco / Brutalist / Rustic. Model: 606. Period: Circa 1930-1950. Height: 17.5 cm.
