Original poster of the 25th montreux jazz festival directed by david bowie in 1995. Claude nobs entrusted the creation of the poster of the 1995 edition to his friend david bowie, who had lived in blonay between 1976 and 1982, when he was trying to escape the american media circus and his own addictions. If this is a musician's first foray into a territory previously reserved for image specialists, it should be remembered that bowie exhibited paintings and sculptures in a gallery in london in the same year - these paintings will also be visible in montreux during the festival. But it was at the computer - also a first in the history of festival posters - with an apple mac, that bowie made this visual. The poster first depicts the character of ramona a. Stone, seen in the background. This female doppelgenger appeared in the mythological galaxy of the singer on outside an album released in 1995, each track of which is considered from the point of view of a fictional character. At the last moment, bowie decided to partially cover the scene with a vignette that depicts the dropping of the atomic bomb on hiroshima, 50 years earlier. The singer and artist combines the creative and destructive sides of technology in this dystopian visual.
