Elegant mirror with mouldings, entirely in carved gilded wood, from the 19th century, inspired by the Louis XV style and more specifically the rocaille style (post-Regency or Transition period of the 18th century). It consists of a main mirror (previously replaced) surrounded by 8 mouldings showing signs of ageing of the silvering. Its frame exhibits the characteristics of the rocaille style, also known as rococo, with its more or less asymmetrical curves, its ornaments in scrolls, pierced work, and acanthus leaves. Its concave surface and partially ribbed design evoke the foliage or shell motifs that were very fashionable at the time. It is in relatively good condition (without missing parts) despite a crack at the insertion of the left decorative ornament, which is hardly visible once hung. This small mirror, with its beautiful gilded patina, can enliven a wall on its own, add depth and a touch of light to an entrance, or enhance the piece of furniture above which it will be placed. We particularly appreciate its timeless elegance and its size, which allows it to fit anywhere and catch the eye. Frame dimensions: L52xH77xP4 cm. Dimensions of the mirror with mouldings: L33.5xH43.5 cm. Dimensions of the central mirror: L24xH34 cm.
