This modernist swivel armchair was manufactured by selig imperial in sweden during the 1970s. The armchair is made of black natural leather. The base is a chrome star-shaped base covered with brown veneer. The back cushions are loosely attached with a string. The closing form of the armchair refers to the fame egg chair, which is an icon of mid-century modern design. The armchair is very comfortable, and due to its interesting design, it will be perfect for many arrangements, being an original element of interior design. Selig was founded by mendell selig and samuel wexler in gardner, massachusetts, usa in 1931. In the 1950s, the company grew to become one of america's leading importers and manufacturers of contemporary furniture. The company focused on high-end projects, manufactured in denmark and other scandinavian countries. Their offer consisted of the simple, elegant forms typical of post-war danish design. Selig is responsible for introducing the american public to many scandinavian designers and popularizing the modern, future-oriented interior style that became common in the us in the post-war period. This armchair is in original vintage condition. It has signs of use due to age, scratches on the leather. The seat is 38 cm high.
