Louis XVI style ice trumeau in partially gilded wood and lacquered water green decorated with a net of pearls, rosettes and bouquets of flowers. The mirror is surmounted by a painting depicting a gallant scene. H X w = 164 X 113 cm. Late nineteenth century. What we think: a beautiful model that has the advantage of being in good condition, the gallant scene is charming, well painted and again in very good condition. Did you know. Appeared in the seventeenth century, the old trumeau is first used to be placed between two windows to increase the brightness of the room and decorate it. From the eighteenth century, the trumeau becomes an essential object of the interior decoration of dining rooms, bookcases and other salons. The painters and artists of the time practically all carved or painted works of art on this type of support. It is not uncommon to see trumeaux whose dimensions of the elements of the decoration are larger than the mirror itself.
