Straw and old wood bench

Very pretty wooden and straw bench, called "cantou" in Dordogne. Very old, traditional, very rare to find in this condition. Indeed it was placed in large fireplaces, along one of the side walls (hence the armrest on one side only, the other being at the back, against the corner) to warm up by the fire while cooking a pot, or for precision work (knitting / cross stitch / lace) which required remaining static, so quickly cold hands / feet. Today it will be perfect for an entrance or a child's bedroom, at the end of a sofa or bed, ... It will find its place in a contemporary decor to give it an authentic and unique touch. Very good condition of the straw, probably redone in the last 10 years, wooden structure (treated) in good condition also given its age (more than 100 years). Dimensions: armrest height 62 cm, seat height 40 cm, width 89 cm, depth 35.5 cm, seat depth 29.5 cm.
