Rectangular malle in massive ash, assembled in tails of arondes. Its top, with a moulded front song, can be kept open vertically thanks to an iron compass. It reveals a storage space 19 cm deep, itself lined with a small lid box 6 cm high. The paintings of origin rechampies have been judiciously preserved inside this malle, giving it this particular whitened aspect. This chest has an authentic clasp that can be completed with a padlock. Its façade also offers two sculpted flowers with a pronounced relief. Note the presence on the sides of two iron and stop drooping handles, making it easier to handle this malle by excluding any risk of injuring his hands. This chest, entirely composed of ash, corresponds to this current trend of return to the essentials and natural materials. Transportable, after almost two centuries of voyages, it can nevertheless aspire to a peaceful retreat in a warm interior. ******** Period: mid-19th century. Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop. Finish only waxed. Ref: 856 r.
