Harrewyn denise (1915 clichy sous bois -2004 montreuil) A painter, she owed only to the will of her mother, who wanted to see her as a seamstress, not to have been in the factory like her brothers. At the age of 13 after the certificate of studies, she finds herself "cousette". But she dreamed of illustrating children's books or newspapers. Her father enrolled her in a private school that claimed to teach fashion figurine in a few months to anyone who wanted it. When she graduated, she went to department stores and fashion publishing houses, but the doors remained closed. She lived and worked in the industrial parisian suburb of northern clichy. While she is best known for her well-crafted still lifes, she has also worked as an illustrator for children's books and the art of the calendar. She started exhibiting before the war and continued to paint and exhibit in the 1990s. Denise harrewyn bequeathed to the city of fontenay-sous-bois "la paix en ile de france", which she painted in 1988 and which is currently in the dining room of the restaurant "la fontenaysienne".
