Box-bench, formerly used in shinto temples - transition period of the edo era / meiji circa 1860-70. This chest combines power and stripping and discreet oriental influence. The craftsman sought the balance of materials, combining solid oak with protruding joins with a sober decorative nailing. The warmth of the wood and the understated elegance of the metal are greeted in turn, in a beautiful balance. Very sturdy it can serve as a bench, or support for a sculpture - the lid is heavy, it will not suit a children's room. Total weight about 26 kilos. Oak - windows visible on one side and in the background - shocks - oxidation of decorative nails - missing two decorative nails - Dimensions: length 72 cm - height 42.2 - width 36.3.
