A large hand-thrown decanter in a lustrous ochre colour and unique drip glaze decoration. Its elegant spherical body with ridges at the top and unusually stout base makes it more a decorative display piece rather than a more practical agricultural item, and dates it back to the early 1900s. Found as part of a collection of a noble family in puglia, the antique decanter was originally used to hold wine, water or olive oil. The wonderful piece with distinctive pattern and colour is ideal as a vase or decorative display piece. Found in grottaglie. The small town in puglia famous for its ceramic craft. Dimensions: h52cm X w30cm X d30cm. These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
