Pair of Louis XVI cabriolet armchairs

Charming pair of Louis XVI style cabriolet armchairs, made of carved and moulded natural wood. The medallion backs are highlighted by a sculpted frieze and topped with a small leafy motif. The armrests rest on curved, fluted supports. The whole is supported by four tapered, fluted legs, characteristic of the Louis XVI repertoire. The yellow fabric upholstery adds a particularly original touch: each back is adorned with a small figure of a swimmer in a red swimsuit, in a retro and quirky spirit. The reverse also features a printed decoration reminiscent of old advertising illustrations. A beautiful decorative pair that combines the classicism of the structure with a contemporary tapestry full of humour, ideal for adding a unique touch to an interior. Some marks, wear, and old restorations are visible on the woodwork, in accordance with the photographs.
