Set of 2 Bistro chairs bent wood turned FISCHEL DlG THONET Cane seat
Description
This beautiful pair of old chairs is made of bent wood, certainly from the fischel house. These are bistro chairs from the 1940s-1950s: the seat is in regular canework, the structure in light-colored curved wood, the back is in elegant turned wood. This bentwood furniture made the success of the thonet brothers, creators of the wood bending process in vienna around 1840. Like thonet, many craftsmen began producing bentwood furniture in the 1870s. And until the 1960s. The best known are jj kohn, fischel, baumann, etc... The seats measure 41 cm in diameter and are 49 cm high. The backrest peaks at 79 cm in height. There is no brand allowing this furniture to be attributed exactly. I point out traces of use: dents, scratches on the wood and stains. The caned seat is in very good condition.
