Freestanding teak Scandinavian desk from the 1960s | Dyrlund

A true icon of mid-century modern furniture, this freestanding Scandinavian teak desk from the 1960s was designed by the architect duo Torben Valeur and Henning Jensen for the renowned Danish company Dyrlund. Designed as a Danish executive desk, this exceptional piece stands out for its airy architecture: its geometric base with refined joints gives the cabinet a remarkable impression of levitation. Created to be a focal point in a room or against a wall, it embodies the warm living art of Scandinavian design. On the front, it features six practical drawers adorned with sculpted solid wood handles. On the reverse, its large open niche accommodates your finest art books and decorative objects. In a contemporary workspace or a cosy living room, pair it with one of our vintage gold mirrors to enhance its golden reflections. This piece has undergone a complete renovation in our workshop: careful sanding of the entire teak, application of a high-quality protective oil to nourish the fibres and reveal the original grain, and mechanical checks of the drawers and joints. This vintage piece, over sixty years old, is in very good overall condition. Evidence of its history and authenticity, some signs of use and darker areas are visible on the top (perfectly documented in our detailed photos). They in no way compromise its elegance and contribute to the unique charm of a piece from this era. The legs are detachable for easy handling and to ensure safe transport.
